Materials & Craftsmanship: The upper is genuine nappa, a chrome-tanned leather first developed in Napa Valley, California in 1875, known for its smooth, supple hand. Natural grain and surface marks stay visible, a quality only finer hides allow. The leather comes from a Gold-Rated LWG tannery in Padova, working hides since 1981 with chrome-free dyeing and full traceability. Tannery certifications include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ICEC, ZDHC, Leather Working Group, and Fair Wage. The Leya flat is constructed by a family-owned Venetian footwear atelier, Kering-audited and operating under an internal ethics and social responsibility code and a formal safety management system (SGSSL).
